4/5: Smilla’s Sense of Snow by Peter Høeg, translated by Tiina Nunnally I picked up this book as part of my mystery book club. Out moderator enjoys a variety of voices and in this case chose an English translation of a Danish literary mystery. The plot is interesting, almost too fantastic, but holds your interest as there’s lots of danger and drama. Smilla is an underdog, with considerable tech skills and a mission to avenge a child friend’s death. I compare her to Lisbeth in Girl with a Dragon Tattoo, both unerring misfits from northern Europe.
